In recent notes from the Enterprise 2.0 conference, Bill Ives made some interesting observations, one of which was to question whether or not CIOs are starting to show signs of Enterprise 2.0 acceptance.
In other words, is company leadership, particularly on the technology side, ready to make the necessary changes to deal with their growing information management problems? According to Ives, many site privacy and security concerns as the reason for their hesitation to adopt enterprise data management systems. However panelists at the E20 conference likened such adaptation to installing bathrooms; it is absolutely essential.
Ives notes that panelists indicated that the adaptation of enterprise data management will rely on CIOs as well as the development of universal industry standards for communication and data.
