Query Server
A Server is a computer system connected to the network in an organization or to the internet. Servers are committed for a specific functionality and are named with respect to their functionality as Database Server, Fax Server, Communication Server, Print Server, Web Server, Proxy Server, etc.
A group of computer servers connected to accomplish the need of an organization is described as “Server Farm”. A server farm might have a number of clusters to carryout different functions. The focus here is on Query Server.
Query servers are those servers dedicated to find data using the index and return the results to the user. Query servers can have wide ranges and the size of the query servers depends on the size of the index. When users try to configure more than one query server, it is important to note that they cannot configure index server as a query server. To increase the speed of the query server, the organization divides the index into segments so that a portion of the index will get the support of cache. Retrieving information from cache memory is quicker than retrieving information from the disk.
If an organization has an index of about 80 GB and if the query server has 4 GB RAM, the organization might be expected to store index in cache memory. To carry out this activity the organization has to split the index into segments, and in this case, it would be four segments of 20 GB. These segments will be stored in separate servers and clustered with subgroups.
SQL Query Server
Structured Query Language (SQL) is a database language to store and manage data in relational database management systems. SQL Server from Microsoft is Relational Database Management System that runs on T-SQL, programming extensions for Sybase. In the present scenario, SQL servers are easy to deploy, maintain, and adding more SQL query servers to the organization will ultimately save enormous amount of cost, time, and increase the efficiency. SQL query server has several advanced features like transaction control, exception-and-error handling, row processing, and declared variables.
SQL server queries let the user to describe preferred data and it is the responsibility of the database management systems to optimize and perform physical operations to produce results.
SELECT statement is the most common SQL server query that retrieves data from tables or expressions. SELECT statement is standard and it does not affect the database, when compared to non-standard implementation of SELECT statement such as SELECT INTO.
SQL server query includes list of columns to appear in the result and users can mention this immediately after SELECT keyword. SELECT statement appears to be simple, but actually, it is the most complex statement in SQL with optional keywords and clauses like FROM clause, WHERE clause, GROUP BY clause, HAVING clause, and ORDER BY clause. The proper usage of these is a big advantage for the SQL performance.
Perfect Search Corporation
Perfect Search, an industry leader in innovation, makes a quantum leap forward in Query server solution. Perfect Search assures users to experience four times the indexing and query speed when compared to rest of the solutions. Perfect Search can acquire query speed order of magnitude faster than rest of the servers. One server from Perfect Search can handle more queries with an increased throughput per server. Thus, only fewer servers are required to handle the same volume of query, decreasing the size of server farm. After research, Perfect Search is confident about increasing the query speed effectively. They can replace between 10 to 1,000 servers using single server from Perfect Search.
If an organization has an index size of about 200 and receives 1000 queries per second, a typical traditional server requires query server cluster of 25 cluster subgroups and 50 servers in every subgroup. Totally, the organization would require about 1250 servers to handle the queries. Perfect Search would handle approximately 200 queries per second and replace 50 servers with five servers to handle the total query volume. This is a significant improvement over the traditional system and a cost saving technology solution as well.
Perfect Search Enterprise is a patented technology solution to perform enterprise wide searches. This can search both structured and unstructured data in blistering speed and depth. This enterprise search solution can support accelerating growth of enterprise data. Perfect Search Appliance is yet another solution for enterprise. It is an easy to install, plug-and-search appliance which improves the concept of retrieval technology.
Perfect Search OneBox Extender for Google Search Appliance (GSA) can increase the speed and capacity of the server by four times. Perfect Search can integrate with the Google search technology to reduce the driving cost and accelerate return on investment.
Perfect Search’s Database Search Appliance for Oracle (DBX for Oracle) enables full search functionality in Oracle Database. It can support both structured and unstructured data. Users can offload data from multiple databases, so that DBX can create master index and afford universal federated search across all indexed databases with one query.
